Simplified data conversion allows seamless geometry transitions and greatly improves the variety of possible operations available with the models, designed in NX. The common kernel makes NX compatible with the wide range of software packages and add-ins. NX is built on the Parasolid geometric modeling kernel just like SolidWorks or ANSYS (but not CATIA which makes automatic CATIA to NX conversion impossible). Although Siemens NX has its own CAE, CAM and PLM modules it still can be expanded even further.

NX is one of the best full-featured CAD systems in the world today. Combined with Teamcenter PLM system NX is able to handle projects of any scale possible. It is famous for its versatility and simulation abilities. Like most of the biggest CAD systems, NX (formerly known as Unigraphics) came to market in the 1970s.
